After the hectic Christmas it was nice knowing our present was a vacation! Zack really wanted to see the 49ers play and I really wanted to see my longtime friend Kelsey. I met Kelsey in the wilderness program I went to when I was 16. We were both troubled youth, haha, no, no, just awesome enough to go to Anasazi. :P Anyway, she moved to San Fran from Colorado a few years back and this trip was a perfect excuse to visit her.
We left on Friday and stayed til Monday. We decided to just use public transportation instead of renting a car because it's part of the fun, right? Boy, was that a crazy idea! After a lazy day Friday, just lounging and eating at a great mexican restaurant, we headed into San Fran from San Bruno on Saturday. Taking the CalTrain was cool, I felt like I was on the Hogwarts Express! Damn, I'm a geek. Anyway, our plan was to get to the Golden Gate Bridge, head to Ghiradelli Square, and then meet up with Kelsey at Pier 39 & Fisherman's Wharf later. Getting to the bridge was a pain. Google maps got us all mixed up and by the time we figured it out it was 3:00 and we didn't make it to the bridge til 4. It ended up great though, since the sun was starting to set it made the bridge look so pretty. After that we journeyed through Fisherman's Wharf and grabbed a drink on Pier 39. That drink was so strong! But well deserved! We also visited Boudin (a well known sourdough company), a lefty store, and found Zoltar!
Once we walked a few blocks we found Kelsey, it was such a great time! I already miss her. We ate at a pizza place that won awards in Italy. It was fantastic! Kels and I shared a bottle of wine and reminisced. There are some crazy details I'm not going to share, but let me just tell ya, I heard about them the next day. If ya know what I mean!
Sunday was the big day! Zack was so stoked. Us 3, yes I'm including my hangover, took the CalTrain to the first San Fran stop. It's a couple blocks from that so we walked. I can't believe how many people were doing the exact same thing as us. If you have never been to a pro sports game, do it! The fans are awesome and it's such an awesome experience. You end up high fiving so many people that you wonder if you should wash your hands later. haha.
Candlestick Park is known for their garlic fries so we had to get them. They were so yummy! My purse still smells like them, haha! That's what I get for stashing the remainder in there. I'm so glad we went to a game we knew 49ers would win. I didn't want a sad husband on the flight home the next day. The first half was kinda scary, but after that they picked up the pace and won 27-13.
It was such a fun mini vacay. We are definitely going back next year. I already miss the 50 degree weather. But only a few more months and Utah will be warm again!
Til next time!
